In 1980, the Florida Retail Federation moved its headquarters to Tallahassee to strengthen its ability to represent retailers in the legislative process. Their next step was to find a president and general manager with the kind of solid experience in lobbying and government affairs that could take them to the next level. They found just that in Bill Kundrat, Jr., from the Louisiana Retailers Association. Under his leadership, membership increased dramatically, along with public awareness of the vital importance of the retail industry in Florida.

Kundrat has served as chairman of the board of directors for RetailFirst Insurance Company since 1981. He was formerly the president of the Florida Retail Federation and former director of travel and tourism for the State of New Mexico.
