In 1978, Petcoff cofounded Summit, the manager of RetailFirst and BusinessFirst Insurance Companies. The next year, he formed the Florida Retail Federation Self Insurers Fund—which became the state’s largest workers’ compensation self insurers fund. In November 2010, the Fund converted to RetailFirst Insurance Company, a stock insurance company within a mutual holding company system. Petcoff retired from the position of president of Summit in 1985 and currently serves on the board of directors for RetailFirst and BusinessFirst.
